November, 2007, National Geographic Online Edition Features story on Belarsky:
"Surrounded by photographs and recordings in her Brooklyn apartment, 87-year-old Isabel Belarsky has dedicated more than three decades to preserving the memory—and the music—of her father, musician Sidor Belarsky. Before the Ukraine-born singer died in 1975, he had given 22 solo concerts at New York’s Carnegie Hall, performed leading roles with opera companies from Russia to the U.S. and Latin America, become a leading interpreter of classic Jewish religious music and folk songs, and recorded more than 30 albums. To experience the power and beauty of traditional Yiddish and Hebrew songs, Isabel Belarsky says, “it is important to know how they were originally performed.” By introducing new audiences to her father’s music, Belarsky says she hopes to preserve “a feeling for the vibrant culture that gave rise to it.”"
